Fall into Reading 2011

Yay!  It's time for another reading challenge from Callapidder Days!  I don't have a lot of time to write this because I have to get ready for work, but I know that if I don't get it done now it won't get done!  Call me crazy, but these nights of taking care of a newborn don't seem to be doing my brain any favors ;)

Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella.  I love Sophie Kinsella.  LOVE.  I just got this book from the library yesterday and had a RIDICULOUSLY hard time not starting it.  But I figured that my family would enjoy eating dinner more than they would enjoy knowing I would be "MIA" til the book was finished.  Much better to leave that for the weekend when football is on ;)

Reflections on the Savior by Max Lucado.  This book includes "And the Angels were Silent," "The Gift for All People," and "No Wonder They Call Him the Savior."  I  thought that since Christmas is coming up (YIKES!!  How in the world did that happen so fast?!), I would "prepare" in a different way.  I was planning on only reading one, but I'm going to try to shoot for all three.

The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger.  I've never read this one but it is on one of the lists of books that I want to read that is included in my 101 in 1001 list, so I thought I'd give it a try.  Also, it was one of the shorter books on the list.  At this point in my life, this is a very good reason to choose one book over another!

The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer.  So, Confident Woman, we meet again!  I think I've had this book in 2 other challenges and never even started it!  One time I lost it and found it a few months after the challenge ended (luckily it was my book, not the library's) and I can't remember what happened the other time.

As a further part of the challenge, I am going to try again to read my Bible at least 3 times a week, and read the Bible together as a family at least 3 times a week.  We've actually already started this (except when we were on vacation) and it's been such a precious and needed time.  It's absolutely amazing to hear my little girl excited about what Daddy has read to her.  Even if she doesn't understand it now, just having those seeds sown is going to be awesome for her!

Alrighty, so there's my list for Callapidder Days' Fall Into Reading 2011 Challenge!  If you decide to join, let me know so I can check out your list!  And make sure to look at other people's goals, too.  I've found out about some great books that way!

I have been wanting to re-read Catcher in the Rye and see if I still love it after all these years. Happy fall reading.

I love the Shopaholic series and Mini Shopaholic was so fun!

My list is a combo of review books and books that will help me complete the other reading challenges I am participating in.

Good luck!

I never did read Catcher in the Rye and now I'm afraid it won't have the same impact as it would have when I was a teenager. I hope I'm wrong, and I hope you love it! Happy reading!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that has to move books forward to the next challenge. Enjoy your reading list.

I love that you're making a priority of reading the Bible as a family! And you're right -- even when kids don't completely understand, God uses those seeds in their hearts. Good for you! Thanks for being part of FIR '11!

Love how you added your bible reading into the challenge. I think I have the same Max Lucado threesome book. Love your idea of preparing for Christmas by reading that.
